Spectrolite is the very high grade of a dark based Labradorite that is found only in Finland. The name "Spectrolite" is a trade name given to this material by the Finns, and only this material can truly be called Spectrolite. Spectrolite is Finland's national stone.
Spectrolite can display an array of various colors, from very dark blue, to red, orange, green and yellow. Like Labradorite, Spectrolite's vibrant colors may not show looking at it straight on. You usually have to move the stone around to display colors like the "northern lights".
This is genuine Spectrolite from Finland as we bought the rough stone at the Tucson Gem show this year, straight from the founder of Spectrolite Gem Center and Gem museum in Finland..
